Iberian Lynx and birding tour,
THIS TOUR IS NO LONGER AVAIABLE !
Sierra de Andujar Natural Reserve is considered a jewel, one of the best wild mountain
habitats in Spain. It holds dense populations of Fallow and Red, Moufflon, Otter, Wild
Boar and 10 wolves, as well as the largest Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) population in
Spain.

The Iberian lynx, one of the world's most endangered cats, with only 250 cats estimated
to be living in the wild, is one of the last worldwide feline treasures. The trip will focus on
trying to observe the Iberian Lynx in the wild, not an easy task, although we have a
success of 100% during the 2009 and 2010 trips, is not guaranteed at all.
This trip will include the possibility to observe other large mammals, and also a good
birding is guaranteed, as birds of prey are a good speciality in Spain too, some species
might be seen: Spanish Imperial Eagle (150 cc worldwide), Bonelli s Eagle (+800 cc),
Griffon Vulture (16,590 cc.); Eurasian Black vulture (+ 1,350cc); Golden Eagle (+1,200
cc.), Black-shouldered kite or Peregrine falcon.

Dear guest, please note that we will be looking for the Iberian lynx in the wild until the

Testimonials:
John Swales: I have been out birding twice on day trips around Madrid with Aitor. Both were excellent, transport, company, picnic lunch, birds found, all excellent. Indeed, on the second day, Aitor, My companion and I found a grand total of 14 raptor species in a single day, a total that I have never approached before, nor would hope to equal again (except with Aitor!) If anybody wants further information, I can be most easily reached at jmswales@umich.edu. John Swales. Professor Emeritus of Linguistics. The University of Michigan, USA
David Broughton: My wife and I went on a one day birding tour from Madrid which was ably guided by Aitor. We had a great time, as Aitor knows the best areas to see lots of raptors and such local specialties as Great Bustard. Aitor was very helpful in assisting us to identify the local birds and in making a special effort to find the species of interest to us. He was able to pick us up from our hotel in central Madrid and even packed a lunch for us. I would recommend Aitor s services for anyone who is looking to do some birding in and around Madrid.

Rose Robert (London): We had a wonderful day with Aitor. Aitor was very knowledgable indeed about the birds and you took us to three (or was it four?) different places where we saw lots of birds - very impressive. It was very interesting and informative.
Dr. Hank Webster: The birding trip that Aitor arranged met our expectations and provided us an excellent introduction to the birds in the Madrid region. An added bonus was the opportunity to explore the surrounding landscapes and land uses which are quite different from northwestern Pennsylvania. The timing of our trip permitted us to observe a number of raptors, with the views of the Spanish Eagles being exceptional. Our day was well organized and efficiently conducted. My students and myself added significantly to our life lists. Thank you
